How to Find Your Authentic Self and Happiness

Friday, December 4th, 2009

It seems that the quest for happiness and fulfilment is as old as humanity itself.

One Buddhist blessing contains the words “may all beings be happy”. Happiness is an emotion and we are driven by emotions even so we would like to believe that we are such rational human beings. The Self Help Industry is booming, lots of people are aware that something is amiss in their lives but they just don’t know what. Nearly everybody seems to be searching for something. We live in a time of unprecedented wealth and technological advances that even our parents wouldn’t have dreamt of – at least in the so called developed world – and yet there seems to be increased unhappiness and more suicides than ever before.

One intriguing healing method is called the MEM or Mace Energy Method, named after Dr. Mace. My business partner Charly and I talked to Sherrie Hatfield who has been practising MEM for a number of years. You can find Sherrie and more information here http://www.themacemethod.com

Want to go straight to the source? Dr. Mace’s website is www.macemethod.com
Dr. Mace has written a fascinating book:

Energy Over Mind!: How to Take Control of Your Life Using the Mace Energy Method

What makes the Mace Method of dealing with emotional issues so attractive?

Outrageously Healthy with Lenore Miller

Friday, June 5th, 2009

I am so  pleased Charly and I were able to interview Lenore Miller once more -now you have chance to listen to her talk. Last time the change to daylight saving time caused us to miss out on recording our call.  Lenore’s  energy, enthusiasm and passion are contagious!

Lenore talked about creating an outrageously healthy life for yourself – don’t put it off till you lose that weight or till you feel better – start today by looking at things you can be grateful for or happy about.

Lenore offers an mp3 called “Feeling Great for No Good Reason” on her site, go and get it here: http://stretchyourmindandbody.com/blog/outrageoushealth

Everything starts with a decision first – decide to become healthy and then create a toolbox for yourself that will help you along the way. One of the items in your toolbox should be the ability to create positive questions. Instead of asking – “Why am I so fat?” ask yourself something like: “What is great about today?” This will change your focus.

Lenore had a lot more gems to share, don’t miss out, listen to our show, I promise it will be well worth your time.

To help you along Lenore has made an incredibly generous offer. The first 10 people to listen to the call will get a free consultation with Lenore! Just email Lenore at: lenore@outrageouslyhealthy.com and mention the above  blogtalk radio show! Don’t miss this great opportunity.

How to achieve Serenity or Peace Within

Sunday, March 1st, 2009

To live a truly yogic lifestyle we need to develop certain mental qualities that help us to be a “true yogi (or yogini) no matter what life brings and what happens around us. For most of us (including myself) this is quite a challenge. Let us explore some of the things that might help us along our path.

Swami Sivananda talks about 18 “ities” that we need to cultivate.  They will eventually replace the not-so-healthy programmes going on in our minds.

The first one is serenity. It seems a very old fashioned or scarce thing – I have met very, very few truly serene people in my life. (more…)

Happiness and Its Causes

Wednesday, January 21st, 2009

An interesting conference is happening in Sydney – it is called “Happiness and its Causes”, tools and techniques for a happier life.

It is going to happen from the 14-15 May 2009. Have a look at http://www.happinessanditscauses.com.au

Here is an extract from the flyer which I found interesting:

“How can happiness be increased? Can it be sustained?

Scientific studies have shown that our happiness is 50% genetically determined and 50% learned. Excitingly, a revolutionary new field of neuroscience, studying the plasticity of the human brain, has found that we can consciously raise our “happiness set point”. Positive psychology is now uncovering fascinating evidence that not only we can raise our happiness levels, we can do so on a lasting, sustainable basis.”

I will investigate this fascinating area of brain plasticity further and keep you “posted”. This is really fascinating because yoga works so much with our mind, emotions and thoughts patterns. Just to imagine that yoga might be able to actually change the physical structure and neurological wiring of our brains is just “mindboggling”.

Till next time

Joy – Some Inspirational Thoughts

Tuesday, January 20th, 2009

When I attended Spiritfest recently (I will tell you more about that in a different post)

I was asked to give a reading on the topic of “Joy”.  I searched the internet and my own literature and found some real gems. I then put together all the bits and pieces that appealed the most to me. Enjoy!

“Joy and happiness are part of the design of every life. You are the only one who can bring joy and happiness into your life. Joy is hard to come by if you are not aligned with the universe.”

…”The skills we need to bring joy and happiness” into our lives “are the tools of living passionately, the ability to commit to our soul’s purpose and to stay open to unimagined outcomes. These skills allow us to function with focus in chaos and in the Unknown.”

Christine Pratt from www.lastmaskcenter.org

“Joy is an essential spiritual practice growing out of faith, grace, gratitude, hope and love. It is the pure and simple delight in being alive. ” (more…)
