Outrageously Healthy with Lenore Miller

Friday, June 5th, 2009

I am so  pleased Charly and I were able to interview Lenore Miller once more -now you have chance to listen to her talk. Last time the change to daylight saving time caused us to miss out on recording our call.  Lenore’s  energy, enthusiasm and passion are contagious!

Lenore talked about creating an outrageously healthy life for yourself – don’t put it off till you lose that weight or till you feel better – start today by looking at things you can be grateful for or happy about.

Lenore offers an mp3 called “Feeling Great for No Good Reason” on her site, go and get it here: http://stretchyourmindandbody.com/blog/outrageoushealth

Everything starts with a decision first – decide to become healthy and then create a toolbox for yourself that will help you along the way. One of the items in your toolbox should be the ability to create positive questions. Instead of asking – “Why am I so fat?” ask yourself something like: “What is great about today?” This will change your focus.

Lenore had a lot more gems to share, don’t miss out, listen to our show, I promise it will be well worth your time.

To help you along Lenore has made an incredibly generous offer. The first 10 people to listen to the call will get a free consultation with Lenore! Just email Lenore at: lenore@outrageouslyhealthy.com and mention the above  blogtalk radio show! Don’t miss this great opportunity.

5 Steps to Create Your Happy, Healthy Life

Monday, April 27th, 2009

Recently I listened to an interview with Lenore Miller from http://www.stretchyourmindandbody.com/blog/outrageoushealth

During this interview she described 5 steps we need to take to get us to lead the life we want. I love the way Lenore laid all the steps out – she uses very graphic images.

Step 1 – the Dream

It all starts with a dream, an idea, some thoughts. You might call it a vision.

Step 2 – the Mountain

As soon as we have a dream we also have “mountain” – all the obstacles (real or imagined) that stand in our way. Yes, I would like to lead this happy life, BUT…..So we need to dismantle, analyse and overcome this mountain.

Step 3 – the Magic Wand

Write out your life as you would like it to be, in full detail, using all the senses. What do you see, what do you hear people say, what smells are there, how does it feel?

Step 4 – the Pandora’s Box

Contains all the tools you have at your disposal. There might be things in there you don’t even know about yet. Create new tools and put them into your box.

Step 5 – the Gift

Life is like a glass of bubbly champagne – top up your glass every day – it only needs 10-30 minutes of “me” time – a walk along the beach, getting out into the backyard, a bubble bath, lighting a candle….

Everybody Should Know This…..

Friday, March 6th, 2009

Today I was sent some information that I think everybody should have. Whether you use it or not, is up to you and may also depend where you live. With all the newest food scandals and scares it is vital that we know where our food comes from so we can make an informed choice what we are going to eat.

This is where the barcodes on the packets will help a great deal. Nothing is perfect and there is a loophole in the system when the packaging says: “products from various countries” and then it goes on to say: “packed in Australia”. I assume that the barcode will indicate “Australia” as the country of origin in that case. When I go shopping next I will check it out.

Now – how to read these barcodes. Go to this page, it will explain it in great detail, better than I can:

http://www.morethanyouthink.com/shopping/countrycodes.html

So you can determine where the product actually came from and if you want to avoid products from certain countries you just need take a close look at the first three digits of the barcode.

I hope you find this useful

Ayurvedic Personality Types

Tuesday, January 13th, 2009

A predominantly Vata person is of light build, has dry hair, quick by nature and is easily excitable.

A Pitta person is of medium build, has the colours of fire, sensitive skin, and a good intellect – they organise, like lists, are punctual, often hungry, they need to eat or get irritable (blood sugar levels drop quickly) and they have a fairly constant energy level.

A Kapha person  has a heavy build, more oil in skin, big eyes, large features. They have increased endurance, a sluggish digestion, gain weight easily. They don’t like changes, are emotionally stable, good nurturers. Often they are found in the healing, teaching and  nursing profession.

Remember, we all are made up of all 3 energies and we are born with one energy that is more predominant, which determines our “type”. We are healthy and well when the energies are balanced within our system, according to our particular pattern.

There are many different ways to balance these energies and ayurveda employs them all. Just to give you some examples – food, diet, hot or cold water, specific yoga postures, herbs – are all part of the ayurvedic way of healing and cleansing the body.

There are also some very general rules that will help to keep us balanced. Here are some of them:

Live in accord with nature, body does much better with regular cycles, routine, rhythm.

10am to 2pm is Pita time – have your main meal then, digestive fire is at its best.

6am to 10am is Kapha time – do exercise, physical work, because there is steady energy and it will feel easier to do these chores then.

Go to bed before 10pm and get up before 6am. This is very hard to do nowadays, but your body will reward you!

I hope you enjoyed this little excursion into Ayurveda.

What is Mexican Healing

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

I met Darshna in January 2008 at an introductory workshop about Mexican Healing. I had never come across it before so I wanted to know more. Darshna kindly agreed to be interviewed by me.

Good morning Darshna, could you tell me how you got interested in Mexican Healing?

My name is Darshna and my history is very global. I am of Indian decent born in Africa but I lived in the UK since the age of six. In 2005 I crossed the world and decided to come and give Australia a shot, so I think I’ve pretty much covered most of the continents.

I came across the healing one evening when visiting a place called the Green Angel’s, a place where people gathered to play music, sing, read and just be in a community. The night I went some ladies were offering treatments from the Mexican Healing tradition. They had done some training in it already and they told us about two teachers who would be doing a talk and holding some workshops.

I had an amazing result with the treatments and wanted to find out more, so I went along to the talk and the next day turned up for the first workshop. I remember saying that although I had loved the treatments and was inspired, I didn’t think this healing was my path as it was a little out there. The funny thing is – I haven’t stopped using the medicine to help myself and others since that beautiful day four years ago.

Can you tell me a little bit about the history of Mexican Healing and the underlying Philosophy?

The Mexihka Medicina comes from Mexico, its roots are based on Filosofia Nauthl, Nauhtl being the ancient language of Mexico before the Spanish came to Mexico.

The basis of the tradition is that all things are linked, plants, oceans and rivers, the earth, the cosmic forces and us humans. We are all interdependent and we affect each other, with this in mind the medicina aims to bring back balance.

It works by treating everyone as an individual and treating the cause rather than just the symptoms. We treat on four levels: mind, body, spirit and soul.

We say the spirit is the life force and the soul is the auric body. Should these two be out of balance in a person through any trauma, then the mind and body will be affected.

The healing practices are not just about healing. The philosophy is a way of life, you get guidance to find yourself and what might be good for you and what not. The tradition has its own calendar and star signs that reflect a person’s nature.

Identifying your nature helps you to get to know yourself better and thus allows more harmony into your life. It has helped me to move away from things that caused me pain and anger, things that stopped me from growing further. It has allowed me to find my path and have the courage to let old beliefs go. I am very happy and each day is like a blessing.

In practical terms, what methods or processes do you actually use during the healing sessions?

We use Thalawyo, a very deep tissue massage that allows stagnant energy to be released from the body. The healer uses it also as a diagnostic tool to work out what is going on with the client.

Limpia is a beautiful treatment to remove energy that doesn’t belong to the client. It rebalances their energy. They are fantastic and I recommend them once a month for everyone.

Sustos are spirit retrievals, when someone has had an overwhelming or traumatic experience; a part of their spirit leaves them. A susto is all about recalling this part of the spirit back into the physical body, allowing the person to run on 100% of their life force again.

In the tradition we also hold Temescals. These are a type of sweat-lodge, for want of a better word, in the Mexihka tradition there are around 52 different ways to make a temescal. They are used to integrate us with our environment and the people around us. This ranges from healing after birth, resolving conflicts to healing various ailments.

What is the most exciting aspect of Mexican Healing for you?

The main reason I am passionate about the work and love practising it, is the fast response I see from people who receive a healing. The shift in energy and the release of emotional issues are amazing. The healing of serious illnesses can take more time but we have proven that if the person is willing then everything can be worked on. We have people in Europe, who are now healers in their own right, who have shifted cancer and bi-polar issues via the medicina.

Where can people contact you if they want more information or want to experience Mexican Healing for themselves?

I do my healing work  in Sydney, Australia.

One of my teachers will visit Australia in April. We will take appointments for healings with her. There will be talks and workshops as well as temescals.

For immediate appointments people can call me for healings.
